Do You Have Food Ideas?

in Baby Shower Finger Foods

Okay, this goes with the last one I asked about my shower to. im trying to plan my baby shower menu and im having a hard time( 8 people). i would really like the easiest and cheapest way to host the party(catering is just to expensive for the budget and i will be the one who has to prepair the food). i know that most of the time baby showers have finger foods( trays come to mind meat, fruit, cheese, and veggie)but i was looking for something a little "fun" to serve. does anyone have suggestions??
BTW, we had a house fire and all our stuff was lost.

Looking at your other questions, it looks like you are the person who is having the baby? If so, you do NOT plan your own shower. The hostess (a friend or non-immediately family member) is responsible for planning the menu and choosing the games. You are the guest of honor, and your job is to have fun.

And really … if you’re having a party, doing it all ‘the cheapest’ way is really rude. People are going to the trouble to come and, in the case of the shower, bring a gift. They deserve to be entertained in a reasonable fashion.

I have to agree with the first poster. And since you already have a child, my opinion is, you aren’t entitled to another baby shower. You should only have one, period. Unless you kids are very far apart in age or you had a house fire or something where all your other baby stuff was lost.

You don’t plan a shower for yourself and you don’t have them for each child.

try having the baby shower in the late morning/ early after noon and have a Baby Shower Brunch

Menu Idea:
Three Cheese Quiche
Fresh Fruit
Pastries
Coffee
Water
Virgin Mimosas (just use Tonic water and honey instead of Triple Sec and champagne)

Um… I disagree with the first 2. I don’t care what tradition is – I thought baby showers were about celebrating the new life that is about to enter this world. And your 2nd, 3rd, etc… children are every bit as special as the first. Also, I waited around for someone to plan my baby shower and never got one. After my daughter was born I found out that people just assumed I didn’t want one. … Not everybody does it the same. Do it your way and have fun :)

For food ideas … hmm. I would think getting a really long sandwich from subway could be fun. Or you could make your own trays a lot cheaper than you could buy one. … What kind of food do you enjoy? You might be able to cut a home-made cake to be bottle shaped for less than $10 or order a baby themed cake from the store for less than $30. You could make chocolate covered strawberries yourself. Use cold strawberries and refrigerate after the chocolate dries so it won’t melt off. Melt a little white chocolate to drizzle designs on them. (not baby themed, but still yummy to a lot of people)

hmm. I really dont’ have many food ideas. I would just make something I enjoy. (burgers, spaghetti, sandwiches, etc…) I would use ribbons or confetti or something on the table to give it more of a baby theme. (white plastic bowl with pink ribbon tied around it. platter of sandwiches with blue confetti.)

Have fun. And there’s nothing wrong with keeping it cheap. I personally would rather you spend your money on your sweet little baby than on feeding me.
