I am in charge of planning the homecoming dance for the school I work at. We usually have around 750-800 kids come. We need some ideas for finger foods. Heres the problem...last year we had mozzerella sticks, poppers, taquitos....but they all got too soggy. So we need new ideas for hot finger foods that are cheap.

how about walking tacos….kids love em
you could get chicken nuggets, also at a dance at my school they bought a few big pizza pies and cut them into small pieces for the kids to eat
Does it have to be hot? Cold foods keep much better, any hot food is going to go downhill the longer it’s out, especially oily foods. Try small sandwiches, a veggie or fruit plate, ‘bagle bites’. How about having crackers and different toppings to put on them?
hmm well u can make these strawberrie things where u cut the top of put whip cream on the big part then pin the strawberrie back together with a toothpick… or u can make a fruit basket and rent a chocolate fountaain
Go to Sam’s or Superwalmart and get packages of those meatballs.
You can put whatever sauce you want with them (Swedish, Marinara (like you would have over spaghetti) and a box of toothpicks.
They stay moist and tender and the kids can pick them up that way.
Chicken nuggets..you can even have McDonald’s kind. They will stay crisp probably until eternity.
Pot stickers (already kind of soft)..i suggest making them for price…
get a recipe online for traditional Americanized pork ones, like the ones they have at TGI Friday’s (I have one but it is not here sorry) and get those wonton wrappers and make the sauce. Again get toothpicks
Little sandwiches…go to Save a Lot and get a few of those pimento cheese spread things and cream cheese…spread it over the bread…get a cookie cutter and make shaped sandwiches…the bread is already soft
Reeses Squares – 5 Ingredients & No Bake (Reese’s)
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 lb confectioners’ sugar (3 to 3 1/2 cups)
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
1 cup butter, melted
1 (12 ounce) bag milk chocolate chips
1. Combine graham crumbs, sugar and peanut butter and mix well.
2. Blend in melted butter until well combined.
3. Press mixture evenly into a 9 x 13 inch pan.
4. Melt chocolate chips in microwave or in double boiler.
5. Spread over peanut butter mixture.
6. Chill until just set and cut into bars (these are very hard to cut if the chocolate gets “rock hard”.
this isn’t a hot food but they are really yummy… and are always a big hit whenever I serve them…
take a flour tortilla and spread it with flavoured cream cheese (like garlic herb etc..) Sprinkle some cut up ham bits or basically any kind of sandwich meat over the cream cheese, and then sprinkle some chopped up bell pepper over that and then some grated cheese. Roll them up and cut into about 1 inch pieces…. Make as many as you need….
800 finger sandwiches sounds like lots of work. Get the kids to help. Put lettuce on bottom of finger rolls to keep then from getting soggy add turkey salad(roast it yourself it’ll be cheaper), ham salad, egg or tuna salad. If you can place trays over other trays filled with ice they will stay tasty and safe . Good luck to you! Bring some aspirin!
