I am getting married in June 2009 on the beach in FL. Our reception is going to be held at a boat club by the water and our colors are brown and pink. We are trying to find food that we can make ourselves and serve. We have had a friend offer to do bar-b-que but were also thinking of doing a chocolate theme or finger foods. Any suggestions?
To clarify, I didn't mean having pink and brown food necessarily, that would look odd. I was thinking more along the lines of if we have barbeque, what kind of finger foods would go well with that?
Thank you everyone for your wonderful suggestions. We were thinking of pulled pork barbeque with mini buns or something like that. We want things to be easy. We cannot afford to have it catered so it will definately be a family affair as far as that goes.
To answer Brittany, our date is Friday evening June 12th.

Just because your colors are pink and brown doesn’t mean your food has to be. That will severely limit your choices. Might even look a bit odd.
It really depends on what you want to do – you can serve a full meal and do BBQ, or you can have a variety of finger foods along with some chocolate. But, I don’t think that I would do a chocolate theme – that would be a lot of sweets.
If you did a BBQ I would suggest doing some BBQ chicken and/or steak. I would stay away from anything to messy like ribs. The last thing you want is to get something on your dress.
If you did the BBQ then you would just have to come up with some side dishes to serve with it – bread, rolls, green salad, potato salad, pasta salad, cornbread, roasted veggies, etc.
If you decide to do finger foods/appetizers you could always give your guests a wide variety of selections to choose from like; Baked Brie, Cheese and Crackers, Petite Meatballs, Veggie tray, Fruit tray, chicken wings, devilled eggs, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, spinach dip, mini quiche, pinwheel sandwiches, etc. You can go over to Costco/Sam’s Club – they have lots of frozen appetizers that they sell for a fairly good price.
Finger foods, FL, yummy. Shrimp, scallops on ice with hot sauce. Or scallops wrapped in bacon. Add chicken wings, various breads with
spinach, cheese or other type dips. Various kabobs made with fresh veggie or fruits. Cheese tray. Chocolate fountain is always a hit – you can dip anything fruit, pound cake, cookies, chips, marshmellow, snack of any kind just use your imagination. You might want to reconsider the BBQ sounds like a great idea. Just add a chocolate fountain.
Plan accordingly, it can get pretty hot on the beach in June.
omg, so tired of brown as a wedding color. its the color of poop and dirt not bridal at all
its soo trendy and the trend has past.
French Fancies!! Take the yellow ones out 1st!!
you have to have chocolate covered strawberries!! It’s so summery, classy and very easy to do yourself. In fact, it might be smart to get the chocolate fountain machine and have chocolate/fruit kabobs….just another dessert besides the cake itself.
For the drinks, you could deff do sangaria (if it’s adults only). You could decorate the rim of the glasses by dipping them in honey or maple syrup and then dipping the rim in sugar, place a slice of lemon or lime on top.
As for the finger foods, you could do something w/ international food…like have mozerella sticks (get the big packets from Cotsco), egg rolls, chicken bites, mini quechies, pizza rolls (that may be too casual tho).
Good Luck & Congrats!
