We have the main menu pretty much planned. But I was wondering what were some finger food ideas that we can serve for those who don't want to gorge themselves on a full dinner?

celery. carrots. little live squids.
Here’s what I had: chicken fingers (instead of wings – messy), veggies and veggie dip, fruit and dip, apple wedges and an apple dip, meatballs, and the usual nuts/mints. Would have done shrimp but that was expensive. I’m sure there were other things but I was too busy to notice, lol.
Pampered chef has a recipe…I believe its called ham puffs….omg..they are sooo good. I have them at all of our get togethers and they are always GONE quickly…They will be a hit…. they are so good…if you cant find the recipe….send me a message and I will email it to you
There are really a lot of options, depending on type of service, time of year, time of day, what else is on the menu, and of course cost factors. I am a wedding planner, and typically for a cocktail hour, we’ll do four passed hors d’oeuvres and two displayed hors d’oeuvres. The passed items are ‘butler passed’ with white glove service by servers. They can include anything from mini crab cakes and chilled shrimp to franks in a blanket and fried mozzarella. Displayed hors d’oeuves typically are a artisan cheese display and crudite (veggie display).
Some ideas for passed hors d’oeuves:
canapes
california rolls (or sushi if your guests are adventurous!)
bruschetta
spanakopita
chicken satay (on mini skewers)
coconut chicken
springrolls
empanadas
For displayed hors d’eouvres, you can also consider doing like an antipasto display or even a raw bar!
For more ideas, just google wedding hors d’oevres or search through some caterer’s websites and menus for more ideas. For example, browse this caterer’s menu: http://www.faircatering.com/horswedding.htm they have a TON of ideas.
Also, becoming increasingly popular is the “Stations” reception, which is like a buffet, but instead of a buffet line, there a number of ’stations’ around the room, ie: carving station, pasta station, potato bar, stir fry station, etc. Check out this menu as an example: http://www.plimoth.org/dining-functions/weddings/stations.php
veggie platter,spinish and crackers
mini items are great
quiche
veggie tarts
chicken (fingers, teriaki, ect)
veggies and dip
crackers and cheeses
friuts
seafood (crab cakes, scallops wrapped in bacon, shrimp)
Some of my favorite appetizers at a wedding or similar fancy type party are beef and chicken satay sticks, sushi rolls, mini finger sandwiches on specialty breads, brie and crackers, shrimp cocktail, prosciutto-wrapped melon, and asparagus wrapped in thin-sliced ham.
